Keynote Speaking
Hopeward Healing’s keynotes for schools, conferences, and other organizations focus on healing and provide real-life examples of managing grief. The Baurers’ story, paired with the insights from a community of experts and co-grievers, can help illuminate a way forward through trauma. Keynote topics include:
- A Glimpse into the System: In this keynote, Margaret and Lilo provide key insights into how residential facilities and in-patient care work and more. The audience will come away with honest insights and experience-driven takeaways to help begin their healing journeys.
- What Now? Post-Traumatic Resources: This presentation outlines how parents and children can use honest communication to work through mental health struggles and heal from traumatic events. Pulling from their own personal story, as well as the tools learned from therapists, Margaret and Lilo shed light on what schools, parents, and children can do following a trauma.
- Coming Out and Transitioning Home: In this presentation, Lilo shares personal stories around coming out as transmasculine non-binary and how their experience can help others in the LGBTQ+ community express themselves authentically.
Parental Guidance
Sometimes you need a shoulder to lean on or a hand to help you up. This coaching is focused on supporting small groups of parents through navigating the mental healthcare system to help their children heal. Through her experience, Margaret provides guidance and resources to parents who need practical advice on how to advocate for their children’s safety and what steps to take if their teenager is suicidal.
Poetry Workshop
Art allows us to connect with ourselves and others. Maybe you don’t know what you feel yet or how to explain yourself to others. Poetry can help process these feelings; it makes it understandable. Hopeward Healing’s workshop offers a safe space and support for youth/persons dealing with transitioning, coming out, going through the troubled teen industry, or coming back home. Join Lilo through a Zoom-based poetry workshop as they provide prompts and instruction for processing grief though poetry.
Write With UsAdvocacy
At the end of the day, Hopeward Healing aims to not only help people change their perspective on mental health and grief, but change the world too. Schools and mental health institutions should have the resources they need to give teens and guardians a safe space to process grief. Healing shouldn’t have to be hard or complicated, so Hopeward Healing is going to fight to make sure people have access to the support structures they need, including:
- Speaking on behalf of parents to school board meetings
- Speak to public officials
- Facilitating conversations with schools
At the end of the day, everyone’s journey is unique. What would help you heal?
